A Note To Parents
It is a scientifically proven fact that music lessons, particularly piano lessons, can promote the development of your child’s brain! Just “google” music lessons and brain development and you will find article after article reinforcing your decision to enroll your child in music education here at Piano Central. Our years of experience have shown that there are only three elements necessary for your child to be successful at piano:
- The student must have a good teacher who used modern approaches and methods. That is exactly what we offer here at Piano Studios.
- The student must have a piano that is educationally appropriate. A keyboard from Wal-Mart, Circuit City, or Sam’s, etc. that has no touch or expression, not enough keys, and one or no pedals will not work. Old pianos that cannot be tuned to the correct pitch will not work either. Also, if you do not know how to use a tuning fork and do not know what piano doping is you should not buy a used piano from Craigslist.
- The final and most important element that is required for your child’s success is the parent must understand that learning to play the piano is an educational process, not an extra-curricular activity. Learning to play the piano is like learning English, math, or science. It is not like playing baseball, football, cheer leading, swimming, etc.
If these three elements are in place, your child will do fine and will be successful at learning to play the piano. It will be one of the finest, life changing gifts you will ever give your child. This is something they will take through their adult lives, long after they are too old for sports and similar activities.
